About us |
Capacity:
Our production consist of lasercutting (both in plate and tubes), laserwelding and most common after processes such as bending, threading, countersinking, etc.
With lasercutting it is possible to make parts with complicated contours that hasn´t been possible before, except for methods such as wire cutting or advanced precision punching. Both methods are slower and more expensive.
Materials that otherwise are difficult to process, such as stainless steel, hardened materials or titanium, are swiftly cut with lasers. Processing with lasers is normally free from burrs and often saves several work operations.
We can process:
mild steel stainless/acidproof steel aluminium brass/bronze titanium plastics (acrylic glass, PET, mm) wood (paper, board, mm)
|
Max thickness: 25 mm 12 mm 10 mm 4 mm 2 mm 50 mm 50 mm
|
Mild steel is normally cut with oxides in the cut, but we can also cut oxide free up to 3 mm thickness.
LaserCentrum is one of few companies working with laserwelding, characterized by narrow tolerances and wide possibilities for automation. The method adds less heat, so the part doesn't deform as easy as with conventional welding. Repetition accuracy is high, but this requires thoroughly made fixtures. This makes laserwelding mostly suitable for large series, but in some applications, where either low added heat or clean processing is of importance, laserwelding could be a good alternative also for low series. Laserwelding is a clean method with almost no need for cleansing as after treatment. We make fixtures and automation equipment by ourselves.
Tubes can be cut with good economy thank's to lack of tooling-cost and you also get the opportunity to cut contours that can't be punched
We also do afterprocesses such as: bending, grinding, threading, counter sinking etc. We have bending capacity up to 100 tons at 3 m length. We have a lot of tools, so we can do advanced bending. We also work with 3D-CAD, so we can do bending with a minimum of preparation cost.
When it comes to grinding, we have an effective brush and grinding machine for parts up to one metres width. We can brush/grind a decorative surface on one or both sides.
To the topIn a second step will we also start working according to the environment control system ISO 14000.
Our strength has from the beginning been our know-how in computers. All production is made with CAD/CAD-support which gives us full accuracy at the shortest time possible. We accept CAD-files via disc, modem or e-mail. Also a photograph or a simple hand-sketch can be made into a cutting-program. The pictures below shows an example.
.

We were also early showing up on the Internet. Our first homepage was presented already in the middle of 1995, which makes us, as far as we know, the first company in Gnosjo on the net!
Our production was dominated from the beginning by designed products, with complicated contours and logotypes for shop fittings or other commercial use. This is due to the methods we have developed for processing images for CAD/CAM. Today is our production roughly one third of each: design products, shop fittings and other industrial products, such as parts for heavy vehicle industry and similar.
| LaserCentrum i Gnosjö AB was founded in March 1993 by Bengt Johansson and Stefan Bengtsson. Everything started with the purchase of an older machine made for cutting in plastics. The machine was thoroughly repaird and converted for processing of metal. The machine was placed in a small wooden house on Hellmansgatan. As so many times before in this area of Sweden, the company was started in a small scale, to bit by bit be built up. | ![]() |

During New Year of '94 the company moved to the plant at Hemvärnsvägen 1. The first machine was modernized in several steps, and the emphasis was on making the machine as flexible as possible. Details that are bent, tubes or other difficult geometries can otherwise be hard to fit in a large conventional lasermachine. Small series became not a drawback, rather the strength of the company! |
Pretty soon the need for a bigger machine became obvious, which has been designed and constructed in the company. The first test cuttings took place in the end of 1996 and has been tested and improved under hand. This machine has an active working area of 2500x1250 mm with a lasergenerator of ca 1500 W, which together with the mounted optics allows processing of mild steel up to a thickness of roughly 10 mm.
The machine were designed aiming to get maximum flexibility and it's possible to custom-design fixtures for 3D-products, tubes or similar, both small and big sizes. It's possible to both cut and weld with this machine.
The demand for lasercutting increased so violently during 1997 that a new machine was installed during the fall of 1997. The machine has an active work area of 3000x1500 mm with a lasergenerator of ca 1800 W, which allows us to cut up to 14 mm mild steel. The machine is also equipped with optics for high-pressure processing in stainless steel with nitrogen, which enhances the cutting quality and eliminates oxide.

The new machine was placed on the plant at Kvarngatan 9, where the main part of the production then took place. During the fall och '98 were also the in-house-built-machine been moved to the same address and all production was at one site. |

In the spring of '97 the founders of the company were given a prize from the Business Association, which was handed to the founders from the hand of the King of Sweden. |
During 1998 has more and more attention been drawn to our new field of business, laser welding. This technology is progressing rapidly and we do all our laserwelding in the in-house built machine. The flexibility in this machine makes it possible to both do cutting and welding.
| In the beginning of November 1999 the building of a new production plant at Lids industrial area was started. | ![]() |
The new plant has an area of 2000m2 including office areas. The building was ready in the end of August. With the new building also a new lasercutting machine and a sheet-bending machine was bought.
